Sleep Support
For something that seems so simple, getting a good night’s sleep can be challenging for many people. In fact, about 30-40% of adults experience the inability to fall asleep and awaken refreshed at least some of the time.
Deep within the brain, the pineal gland produces the sleep hormone melatonin. Its role in the sleep-wake cycle (also known as a circadian rhythm) is to cause drowsiness and lower your body temperature when it gets dark to encourage sleep. Healthy melatonin levels rise in the evening and start to decrease in the early morning hours.
Serotonin is the partner hormone in the sleep-wake cycle. Released in response to sunlight, serotonin is highest in the morning.
